About Us
"An Oasis of Discovery"
— Cleveland Plain Dealer
Cleveland Botanical Garden is alive with the plant world’s natural beauty and vital contributions to all life. Guests of the Garden can experience its 20 exquisite specialty gardens and exotic indoor biomes for year-round escape and delight. Founded in 1930 as the Garden Center of Cleveland, Cleveland Botanical Garden has evolved into a community treasure.
Education has always been at the root of the Garden’s mission, whether it involves standards-based plant science curriculums taught annually to more than 12,500 school children, or a particular guest finding one more way to garden sustainably in his own backyard. Applied Research and exploration keeps the Garden relevant. The Garden’s experts are trusted and important resources on issues related to conserving the environment, plant-based health and nutrition, plant science, and best horticultural practices for the home or community at-large.
Programs and events hosted by the Garden are sources of joy and wonder. WinterShow is a tradition. Orchid Mania lifts spirits during Cleveland’s cold and snowy months. And every year, newer offerings, such as the weekly Gourmets in the Garden during summer, provide reasons to visit again and again.
The Garden’s community involvement extends beyond its 10 acres in University Circle into city neighborhoods through its Green Corps program. Since 1996, Green Corps has enlightened area youth with the significant growth opportunities urban farming has to offer themselves, as well as their friends and families.
Through its people, programs and commitment to community, Cleveland Botanical Garden is creating an ever more vibrant tomorrow.
