Green Corps Students

Cleveland Botanical Garden's Green Corps is comprised of students from Cleveland Metropolitan School District high schools. Students apply for the program in spring, interview, and, if selected, begin work in June. After successfully completing the first season in Green Corps, students are eligible to work after school in the fall and to apply to work for a second and third year with the program.
On a typical summer morning, Green Corps students across the city are getting out of bed early to walk or ride RTA to their home Learning Farm. Work starts at 8:00 a.m. Students meet and learn about the day's goals and get down to the business of weeding, watering, and harvesting. The team takes a break for water and lessons in nutrition, plant biology, and teamwork. Students work a total of 20 hours per week.
For most students, Green Corps is their first job. As any seasoned Green Corps student will tell you, the job holds many lessons, a lot of hard work, new friendships, and quite a few surprises!
