Horticultural Therapy

Hortacultural Therapy

Horticultural therapy uses gardens and gardening activities to improve people's health and well-being. The tactile experience of gardening can strengthen our bodies physically and emotionally.

The horticultural therapy program at Cleveland Botanical Garden provides opportunities for health care organizations to bring their residents for regularly scheduled activities that take place in the Elizabeth and Nona Evans Restorative Garden, a 2006 national award winner for garden design for people with special needs, during the warm months. Programs also take place in the dedicated garden therapy room during the winter. The program is committed to exposing allied health care professionals to horticultural therapy and assisting these professionals in the development of horticulture activities for the people with whom they work at their facilities.
