Fall Lecture: Ten Plants that Changed the World

Can you name ten plants that have changed the world? You might propose examples such as wheat, tea, rubber, nutmeg—none of which made the list our fall lecturer, the distinguished W. Hardy Eshbaugh, will present at our fascinating fall lecture. Dr. Eshbaugh, professor emeritus of Botany at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and research associate at Missouri Botanical Garden, has spent a lifetime studying the origin and domestication of domestic plants. His special focus is the chili pepper. Eshbaugh will deliver an engaging presentation on the origin, evolution, history and uses of many cultivated plants and the ways they have changed human life.
