Katherine Philipp Geis Terrace

The Garden’s outdoor living room
The Katherine Philipp Geis Terrace is the gateway to the gardens. During the warm summer months, it provides visitors a delightful escape for al fresco dining and is the perfect spot to mingle with friends and family as you enjoy the surrounding ornamental beauty. The Terrace is ideal for leisurely, informal gatherings, as well as larger, more organized events.
The centerpiece of the Terrace is the 74-foot-long William E. Conway Family reflecting pool that features water lilies and other beautiful plants. The tropical, ornamental and aquatic varieties on display accentuate the pond with color as their flowers float on the water’s surface. These stunning plants are complemented by comet and shubunkin goldfish.
The Terrace also highlights some of the latest trends in container gardening. The beds and planters change throughout the year to reflect the themes and exhibits of the season and to enhance the many activities and events centered on the Terrace. You’ll find tulips in the spring, pumpkins in the fall and maybe even a tropical tree or two in the summer. Come enjoy this outdoor living room during your next visit to the Garden.
