Position:   Accountant

Reports to: Controller    
Status:  Full Time Salaried, Exempt 

Job Duties:

I. Financial Statements and Reports
  • Prepare and develop monthly financial statements for internal and external use using Excel and MIP software
  • Send monthly MIP actual to budget departmental reports and corresponding detail reports to Department Directors
  • Reconcile bank statements to MIP general ledger monthly
  • Analyze/reconcile reports and statements
  • Reconcile all accounts receivable reports/information.  Prepare dunning letters and follow up payments as needed
  • Review daily Parking, Ticketing, and Retail summary reports
  • Monthly reconciliation of  Parking, Ticketing, and Retail revenue to MIP general ledger
  • Run general ledger detail reports of specific accounts for analysis

II. Journal Entries

Assist in preparing monthly journal entries for payroll, payroll taxes, bank charges/reconciliations, credit card receipts, liquor usage, CBG Garden Store purchases, pledges, endowment gifts, interest, stock gifts, etc.

III.     Human Resources
  • Job posting and resume handling
  • COBRA administration
  • Flexible Spending Account administration
  • Maintain employee files
  • Prepare terminating departure letters and paperwork
  • Other HR duties as required

IV.  Other
  • Prepare Key Indicator report weekly
  • Assist in reconciliation of MIP reports with Raiser’s Edge reports for annual fund, major gifts, memberships, tributes, and special projects by constituent
  • Assist CFO and Controller with annual audit and special projects
  • Complete financial surveys, questionnaires as needed
  • Prepare Parking Tax returns
  • Reconcile petty cash

Back up for Accounting Assistant functions as follows but not limited to:

  • Collect and verify parking, ticketing and retail deposits
  • Prepare annual 1099-R and 1099-Misc. forms
  • Payroll Processing


Bachelor’s degree in accounting
Minimum 4 years comparable experience
Detail oriented with hands-on mentality
Proficient with spreadsheet and accounting software
