Famed Floral Designer Donald Vanderbrook to Decorate Towering Tree at Cleveland Botanical Garden's 'Glow' Holiday Event

World-renowned floral designer Donald Vanderbrook — who has created arrangements for presidents and royals — will fashion the 24-foot-tall holiday tree at the center of Cleveland Botanical Garden's "Glow" festivities.

"As Glow becomes a holiday tradition for so many Northeast Ohio families, it's only fitting that we invite an institution like Don Vanderbrook to be a part of the magic," says Natalie Ronayne, Garden president. "We're anticipating a botanically inspired beauty of a holiday tree unlike any we've ever seen here at the Garden."

Cleveland Heights-based Vanderbrook, who brought his fascinating floral designs to Cleveland a half century ago, has a reputation for adding an impressive "wow factor" to every event he touches. The creative flair he contributes to the towering concolor fir at the Garden will be unveiled when the Glow holiday spectacular opens at 10 am on Friday, November 29. Glow runs daily through Sunday, January 5, but is closed on Christmas and New Year's Day.

Members of the media are invited to cover the installation and decoration of the tree from 8:30 am to 4 pm on Saturday, November 23. Guests that day to the Garden (open 10 am to 5 pm) will enjoy a sneak peek at some of the magic that goes into making Glow shine.

The majestic tree bedecked by Vanderbrook will be complemented by dozens of evergreens decorated by local garden clubs and nearly 100 cleverly constructed gingerbread houses by everyone from professional bakers to elementary-school students. Glow also offers an array of holiday activities for kids from 1 to 92, including rides aboard the Garden Express train, live holiday music, gingerbread decorating and holiday shopping in the kid-sized Treetop Shop.

Glow at the Garden runs Friday, November 29, through Sunday, January 5. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm Tuesdays through Saturdays, with hours extended to 9 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays, and noon to 5 pm Sundays. Special Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve hours are 10 am to 3 pm. The Garden is closed on Mondays, Christmas and New Year's Day.

Glow is free for Garden members. Glow admission is $12 per non-member adult, $8 per non-member child age 3 to 12 and free for kids 2 and under. Heated indoor parking and valet is available. Cleveland Botanical Garden is located at 11030 East Boulevard in Cleveland’s University Circle neighborhood.
