Blog FAQ’s

New to blogs? Don’t even know what the word blog means? Don’t worry. Below, find answers to all your questions.

What is a blog?

A blog, short for weblog, is an online diary with posts that are arranged in reverse chronological order. In other words, the latest posts are at the top of the page.

What is a post?

A post is an entry made by one of the bloggers that may range in length from several paragraphs to a single sentence. In some cases, you may not see text at all. Perhaps our bloggers will have a link or photo that speaks for itself.

I’ve heard that blogs are “interactive” and “conversational.” How so?

Have a question about something you see in a post? Have a point you want to make? We encourage you to share your thoughts and questions with us by making comments to our posts. Our bloggers will do their best to get involved in the conversation as frequently as possible.

Please note, if you do not see your comments immediately added to the blog, please do not resubmit them. All comments must first be screened to prevent obscenity, vulgarity and other types of inappropriate comments. Our goal is to maintain a blog where people of all ages can voice their opinions in a friendly, respectful environment.

What are RSS and subscription feeds?

RSS stands for really simple syndication. Through the use of a feed reader or aggregator, you can stay up to date with The Garden Variety and your other favorite blogs without having to manually visit each blog. To subscribe to our blog via RSS, simply click here to initiate the subscription process.

If email is more your thing, enter your email address under “Subscribe” to receive updates by email.

Or, if all of this talk of subscriptions and RSS makes your head spin, simply bookmark our blog and be sure to return frequently to read our latest posts. We will have new posts Monday – Thursday.
