Ripe from Downtown
You can support Green Corps by treating yourself to some spicy salsa
Green Corps teens have been producing “Ripe from Downtown” medium salsa since 1998. Every year, all Green Corps youth have a hand in the development of the medium salsa. Not growing the ingredients in a large enough quantity to produce hundreds of jars, a partnership has been formed with a local farm (Rainbow Farms in Madison, Ohio) to gather all the ingredients so that our youth can prepare it for the bottling process.
The development of the salsa allows Green Corps youth to learn the process of product development from start to finish and provides a window into business and entrepreneurship.
Recently, Green Corps has added new Ripe from Downtown products, including fire-roasted salsa, ratatouille, tomato basil pasta sauce and bruschetta with recipes developed by Tony Smoody, chef for the Garden’s catering partner, Bon Appétit.
