Learn on the farm this summer with Green Corps workshops

Develop your green thumb this summer with some help from Cleveland Botanical Garden's Green Corps team.

This summer, Green Corps offers an exciting and FREE "Learning on the Farm" workshop series. Everyone's invited to learn new gardening skills in a hands-on environment and help build an active and healthy gardening community.

Workshops include:

Gardening 101: Planning and Creating a Square Foot Garden

This workshop will serve as an introduction to home or backyard gardening. Topics that will be covered include plot orientation, soil and plant basics, plant spacing and placement in a square foot garden and seeding and planting timelines. This will be a hands-on workshop using the demonstration beds at the Buckeye Learning Farm.

Gardening 102: Garden Maintenance and Pest Management

Those who want to take the next step in developing their gardening skills can attend this course to learn about summer pruning and harvesting techniques, fertilizing and feeding schedules and simple and low-cost integrated pest management methods for the garden. This will be a hands-on workshop using the demonstration beds at the Buckeye Learning Farm.

Composting for a Home Garden
10:30 am - 12 pm
Saturdays, June 22 & Auguest 3, 2013

This workshop will introduce gardeners to the fundamentals of composting in the home or backyard garden. Participants will learn about compost: what it is and how it benefits the garden. This will be a hands-on workshop where participants have the opportunity to build and organize a compost pile at the Buckeye Learning Farm and learn different options on how to build a similar system in their backyard.

All workshops will be located at Green Corps’ Buckeye Learning Farm at 11305 Woodland Ave. in Cleveland.

Pre-registration is required, and space is limited.
