Gifts in Tribute

Celebrate, Honor and Remember

Our tribute program provides gift opportunities to celebrate and remember family and friends while supporting the future of the Garden. Tribute gifts are meaningful for all occasions including birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and engagements, graduations, b’nai mitzvah, the birth of a child or grandchild, or as an expression of sympathy and remembrance.

The Garden offers many ways to help you celebrate or honor someone special:

Commemorative Gifts

Donations in any amount are a wonderful way to celebrate a significant milestone or remember a family member or friend.  

  • The gift recipient or family will receive a special card notifying them of the tribute. Gift amounts remain confidential. 
  • You will receive an acknowledgement letter for tax purposes. 
Dedicate a Daffodil Bulb ($50)

Honor a loved one with a special bulb dedication at Cleveland Botanical Garden. Every Spring, the Garden comes alive with the soft yellow and creamy white glow of daffodils. Your gift will be used for the planting and maintenance of one of these glorious daffodil bulbs.

  • The gift recipient or family will receive a special card notifying them of the tribute. Gift amounts remain confidential. 
  • You will receive an acknowledgement letter for tax purposes. 
Adopt-a-Book ($100 and above)

Commemorate a loved one by adopting a book in the Eleanor Squire Library.

  • Our librarian will assist you in selecting a book that reflects the interests of the honoree and the Garden’s mission.
  • A bookplate honoring your special person or occasion will be placed in the book.
  • The gift recipient or family will receive a special card notifying them of the tribute. Gift amounts remain confidential. 
  • You will receive an acknowledgement letter for tax purposes. 
Dedicate a Planter on Geis Terrace ($500 and above)

Dedicating a planter is a unique way to pay tribute to a special person or occasion.  Your inscription will bring to life memories and celebrations that add a lovely sentiment to the fabric of our gardens.  

  • Work with Garden staff to choose a location for your tribute in either the Eleanor Armstrong Smith Glasshouse or within our 10 acres of outdoor locations.
  • Each planter comes with a personalized plaque.
  • Dedications are maintained for a period of 5 years
  • The gift recipient or family will receive a special card notifying them of the tribute. Gift amounts remain confidential. 
  • You will receive an acknowledgement letter for tax purposes. 
Dedicate a Tree

A tree dedication serves as a living memorial to a beloved friend or family member. All trees are chosen in consultation with the Director of Horticulture and Conservation to reflect the Garden’s mission. You may choose between the following options:

  • Planting a new tree within our 10 acres of outdoor gardens ($1,500)
  • Dedicating an existing tree ($3,000)
  • Dedicating a signature tree ($7,500 and above)

All tree dedications include the following:

  • A personalized plaque.
  • A special card notifying the gift recipient or family of the tribute. Gift amounts remain confidential. 
  • An acknowledgement letter for your personal tax purposes. 
Dedicate a Chair or Bench ($5,000 and above)

A chair or bench dedication provides a serene place to enjoy time with family and friends or to rest and reflect while enjoying the Garden and supporting our programming.  

  • Choose a location for your tribute in either the Eleanor Armstrong Smith Glasshouse or within our 10 acres of outdoor locations.  
  • Each chair or bench comes with a personalized plaque.
  • Dedications are maintained for the life of the chair or bench:
    • Teak benches last approximately 10 years
    • Metal benches last approximately 15 years
    • Stone benches are dedicated for 20 years or longer
  • The gift recipient or family will receive a special card notifying them of the tribute. Gift amounts remain confidential. 
  • You will receive an acknowledgement letter for tax purposes. 

Matching gifts

Many corporations match charitable contributions given to non-profit organizations by their employees, board members, employees’ spouses and/or retirees. Check with your human resources office to see if your gift may qualify.
