Volunteer Positions for Glow

We are currently welcoming new and returning volunteers for our annual holiday event, Glow. Glow volunteer opportunities run from November 4th – January 5th; days, evenings, and weekend shifts are available. Recruitment for regular volunteer positions will resume in January.

If you are a new ADULT (age 18 and up) volunteer and would like to join us for Glow, please complete an application and register for our Glow Orientation and Training session here.

If you are a new TEEN (ages 16-17) volunteer and would like to join us for Glow, please complete an application and register for our Glow Orientation and Training session here.

The volunteer opportunities we have for this year’s exciting Glow event include:

GREETER* - Greeters help with welcoming guests, providing directions and maps, and offering to take photos! Volunteer Greeters need to be friendly, comfortable with initiating conversation, and able to stand for extended periods.

GARDEN EXPRESS TRAIN ATTENDANT - The Garden Express Train gives young guests a fun and memorable holiday experience riding a “train” through the gardens! Train Attendant Volunteers hand out “Boarding Passes” to children, provide safety instructions, assist with boarding, and direct parents on where to watch, photograph, and pick up their children after the ride.

MODEL TRAIN DISPLAY STEWARD* – Help guests enjoy the Botanical Garden’s biggest-ever model train display! Volunteers help maintain the trains and ensure they are running smoothly, and provide information and guidance to guests as they enjoy the display. A great volunteer opportunity for model train enthusiasts.

EVERGREEN ADVENTURES CHILDREN’S ACTIVITY ASSISTANT* - Evergreen Adventures is woodland-themed place for children to learn and play during Glow! Activity Assistants engage children and families through creating crafts, sharing books and stories, and exploring creative and interactive displays.

GINGERBREAD HOUSE/COOKIE DECORATING ASSISTANT -– Inside the Glow Village Gingerbread Haus, volunteers help families and children create their own delightful gingerbread houses or decorate lovely holiday cookies to take home for display--or enjoy eating on the Terrace with some cocoa!

SPECIAL EVENT POSITIONS – Glow features a number of special events and special days that make the Glow experience even more exciting for our guests! These include our Breakfast with Santa events, Holiday CircleFest, Members Nights, Special Days for Special Needs, Munchkins & Mimosas, and more!

GLOW SET-UP* – It takes a village to create Glow Village! Between November 4 – 22, you can make the magic happen by helping us string 1.5 miles of holiday lights, bag 500 cookies, decorate over 50 trees and wreaths, set up dozens of Gingerbread displays, build train platforms, organize and prepare activity stations, and more! A fun and community-building volunteer opportunity for groups and families with teens ages 16 and up. Set-up volunteers may need to walk, lift up to 50 lbs, bend/stoop, use basic tools, and work outside.

GLOW TEAR-DOWN* – Between January 2 – 5, join us for the after-party as we dismantle the trains, take down all the decorations, sort lights, organize supplies, clean up and put everything away for next year’s Glow!.

* In addition to adult volunteers, we will also accept teen volunteers ages 16 and up in these positions.
