Play in the Garden
The Science of Play-Based Education Workshops
Friday, August 9
Please note we are no longer accepting registrations for Saturday, August 10.
Have you ever taken the young children in your life outside to make a mud pie, catch a tadpole or plant a seed to grow a baby plant? These once common activities are not so common anymore in the life of young children yet there is much research to support the importance of exposing children to nature. It encourages observation, creativity, and independence as well as helping children stay fit and develop problem solving skills. Being outside relieves stress for all ages and it is usually free! There are few other activities that can do all that.
Join Cleveland Botanical Garden and The Holden Arboretum to learn about the benefits of outdoor play, how kids interact with their surroundings and how you can facilitate and encourage these activities in your own space or those you visit. Come dressed for mess as you experience these activities first hand and learn how you can incorporate these into the lives of your children and students. These adults-only workshops will have you thinking and playing like a kid again!
This Friday or Saturday workshop at the Garden, Play in the Garden, showcases the Garden's own Hershey Children's Garden. A children’s garden is by its very existence a magical place. We’ll reflect on our favorite outdoor play experiences as children, discuss design elements and principles, and learn how to incorporate natural items into play.
Garden admission included.
Registration is now closed for this program.
Garden or Holden Member Adult: $15
